Film London is the city’s hub for film and television, connecting productions with local talent, unique locations, and essential resources. By supporting filmmakers and attracting outside projects, it has supported London's growth as a vibrant, production‑friendly city in Southwestern Ontario.
The Challenge
Film London aimed to build and nurture a strong film community in the city while also attracting outside productions. They needed content that encouraged conversation, showcased local talent, and highlighted London’s unique locations. Their goal was to create a space where filmmakers, crews, and film fans could connect, while positioning London as a standout destination for production.
Our Approach
We developed a content strategy that balanced community engagement with location promotion. Fun and timely segments tied to the Oscars, holidays, and popular shows invited people to join the conversation and share their perspectives. Between these posts, we featured compelling location imagery to highlight the range of filming spots across the city.
As the audience grew, the strategy expanded to include Local Lens, a series that introduced the filmmakers, crews, and creatives behind London’s growing film scene. Each feature allowed local talent to share their work and speak to what makes the community special.
Results
This approach sparked meaningful growth in both engagement and followers. When we began working with Film London, the community totaled just over 1,000 followers across platforms; today, it has grown to more than 4,300 across Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram, reflecting sustained growth and increased engagement. The mix of approachable content, location highlights, and local storytelling helped cultivate a dedicated film community that is enthusiastic, connected, and eager for more. Film London is now seen as a central hub for film activity in the region, with a community that actively participates and continues to grow.
By combining engaging content, local storytelling, and strategic location promotion, Film London successfully strengthened its film community while showcasing the city as a prime destination for productions. This approach not only increased visibility and engagement but also fostered lasting connections among filmmakers, crews, and fans, setting the stage for continued growth in London’s vibrant film scene.
