Central Huron’s old website ran on a proprietary content management system that was reaching its end of life. With an upcoming upgrade tied to increased ongoing costs, this presented a valuable opportunity to explore alternative platforms that provide greater control and flexibility.

Their ideal new platform should enable the flexibility to explore other providers if costs increase and allow for unrestricted growth and customization to meet future needs. They approached us to discuss their options and see what solutions were out there.

We worked with them to build a brand new website and design on a different open source platform while keeping the best parts about their old site. Drupal was our platform of choice: It's an open-sourced platform that isn't tied to one singular business entity, allowing Central Huron to be in full control of their future without having to worry about massive cost increases.

One of the challenges we faced was the number of resources, links, and information that are commonly needed on municipality sites. Our team helped create a unique sidebar on some of the subpages to help navigate those resources in an efficient way.

Additionally, we added dynamic quicklinks on the homepage that can be easily swapped out seasonally/as needed, and a flexible hero image perfect for responsive web design, adapting to each screen size.

By working closely with the Central Huron team, we were able to meet the strict deadline so their website would still function and they could avoid those pesky increasing costs.
