Celebrating our 4 Year B Corp Anniversary

To B, or not to B, Redux.

Four years ago we chose to B; and I am happy to report that four years later we made the right choice. We believe that the certification process is important to commit to our values, our purpose and our community. The B Corp certification proudly states: This is who we are; this is what we do; this is what we believe.

We joined the B Corp movement through the certification process. We did not fully expect and could not have known how much energy we would get from being part of the B Corp community. I believe that the best way to find out about the community is to join it; each individual, each company will take something different from the B Corp family.

I have joined several digital communities that are part of the B Corp ecosystem. These communities are designed to connect, grow and contribute to our collective well being. Last week I connected to fellow B Corps in Vancouver, San Diego and Ecuador.  The connections are powerful because we are able to connect on shared values and shared vision that are integral to being a B Corp. We all collectively use business as a force for good.

Another aspect that is powerful about our B Corp community is that we have over 3,000 companies that can start to work together and localize global causes. B Corps have pledged to actively work on becoming carbon neutral. B Corps are also localizing the UN Sustainability Goals.

We are proud of our community launching the UN SDG Action Manager. The Action Manager tool will help organizations make commitments to improving along the UN SDGs, and give themselves the tools to hold themselves accountable.

“This is who we are; this is what we do; this is what we believe.”

We are called to higher goals by those who are in our community, redoubling our commitment to some of the principals in values that lead us to become a B Corp in the first place.

We’re happy to be joined by Libro and McCabe Promotions in London, Ontario. We have an inkling that London will continue to expand in this regard; there are many great for profit businesses doing amazing good in our community. The B Corp certification is a logical step for many of these organizations to take.

If you’d like to be part of a community that believes in using business as a force for good, building each other up, and collaborating for common good across sectors and international boundaries then consider joining as a B Corp today. We’d be happy to have you as one of our family.
