Who is LEADS Employment Services?
LEADS Employment Services has been providing skills development and employment services since 1986. They provide these services for those “with disabilities and/or employment-related barriers throughout Southwestern Ontario” (LEADS Employment Services). Their mission as a not-for-profit agency is to provide meaningful, and productive employment to those who are highly vulnerable, and to people with disabilities. Since their founding in 1986, LEADS Employment Services has placed over 20,000 jobs. During 2020, they helped place 725 people in jobs, 260 youth volunteer placements, and served over 2000 people (LEADS Employment Services).
What was the project?
In March 2021, LEADS Employment Services knew they needed to update their website to better help those in the community access their services and to stay up to date with the ever-changing media landscape. The project of a new website that would better serve their community during a time of increased demand due to drastic changes in the job market and circumstances, was needed.
How Can We Help?
We love projects that can help our community and provide easier access to supports to those who need them. We worked together with LEADS Employment Services to build them a website that was modern, accessible for clients to use, provides all pertinent information and was easy to maintain.
The Process
For the updated 2021 version of the site, we wanted to make sure that their website was accessible and easy to update and maintain. We migrated the site to a Drupal Content Management system which helps their team manage and maintain a website more effectively.
For the website design, the calls to action for job seekers to apply, employers to post a job, and to get in contact, were clearly located in the navigational header for ease of use and accessibility.
